This mosaic is comprised of 4096 (64 x 64) escape time fractals. They are the same types of fractals you can rate at amiacoolfractalornot.org. However, instead of picking fractals which people rated highly, this image was created by simply choosing fractals that were similar to small parts of an image of Earth from space. The individual fractals range from large blobs of a solid color, to intricately detailed shapes, to noisy collections of different colors. All of the fractals in this image were generated with the same color mapping: from the black of space to the blue of the oceans to the green of vegetation to the brown of mountains and deserts to the white of clouds.
